Children News
The Children’s Ministry is dedicated to developing our children into earnest Christians. What a huge privilege to teach our young folks how they can have confidence in God to take care of them and helping them learn other Biblical truths.
In Junior church we have been studying the Ten Commandments for the past eight weeks. We have children who are as young as I years old who recognize the Ten Commandments now and can name them. We have also had mystery visitors who have dropped in to visit with our children from time to time. We have had visits form Martha, Lazarus’s sister, Dinah, Joseph’s sister, and most recently Ruth. These mystery visitors really add a spark to our class time and the children listen very closely to hear these volunteers tell their stories in the first person. Thank you Becca, Glenna, and Denise for helping the Bible come alive for our kids.
We also spice up our Junior Church with puppet shows and crafts. One of our crafts has been to make placemats for those who are in prison. They are given to the inmates through our volunteers involved in prison ministries. We have also decorated gift bags for the prayer shawls that are distributed by our church folks to those who are sick or hospitalized.
Our Wednesday night Kids Klub has a kid-friendly approach with fun in mind as we stroll through the Old Testament. We have started this fall with the fall of man and the Creation story. Presently we are studying the life of Moses. Our kids have has a Noah’s Ark Party where they dressed up as animals, have had shaving cream art, and even made peanut butter play dough that was good enough to eat, and we did. Martha Mitchell is full of creative ideas to teach and engage the children while helping them learn God’s truths.
Our Junior High Sunday school has been studying in the Old Testament. They have taken up the challenge to learn the books of the Old Testament in the process. Their reward for learning them will be a pizza and bowling party. We are almost ready to collect on that reward!
Our teachers are called to teach and with a staff of dedicated Sunday school teachers, we are already seeing “good fruit” and positive results in our children. Thank you for your prayers. We are blessed to have a dependable presence in our teachers. We value your prayers for our precious cargo – our children. We have a little window of opportunity to plant those seeds of the Word of God. Those seeds may stay with them for their lifetime and bless our children for the rest of their lives. Let’s not miss our chance to be and important part in shaping their lives and pointing them to Jesus.
